A Placeholder First Post

Last time I wrote a blog post was in 2010, when MSN space was replaced by Wordpress. All formatting became scrambled, it was like coming home after a hurricane.

Then there was Wechat 公众号, but it was so poorly designed (still is), so fundamentally and unapologetically ugly, using it was like pulling teeth in an infested garage.

Not sure if anyone has catelogued the history of internet by the primary platform of self expression of each era. At first there was BBS, then blog, then mini-blog/twitter, Facebook, then the bandwidth became capable of streaming video, the text only format became a niche, like photography with film.

I was born when television wasn't a household device for average families, therefore have an attachment to text only format.

The tool used to mark down thoughts can determine the consistency of its usage. I was a heavy user of Evernote until it let itself go and became sloppy. At time it failed to auto save and lost note whole. Only paid subscribers were allowed access to history files. The hold went on for a few years until the discovery of Obsidian, now there are thousands of individual notes in one vault, even for the cutting edge 1M context LLMs they'll have to be processed in batches.

Ideas, thoughts, sentiments and awareness still pop in and out of consciousness, they'll be gone within an hour if not processed and written down. The best place to do that is where there is next to no visual noise or distraction.
